Bindi : The name was chosen long before the puppy. I had said long ago that my next puppy would be called Bindi. I liked the word and sound of it. So what if it’s a boy? He is a bindi; a little white dot, my Bindi. Bindi charmed everyone, especially when he smiled. Yep, he could smile (and often did). He even received a medal once for ‘Best Smile’! Bindi was the most unusual dog I’ve ever had and I’ve had many. He wouldn’t play with toys; they just didn’t interest him; a tossed ball just sat where it landed. But, he did like to play games so I invented a few and gave him some food interactive toys (which were the only kind that he played with). If he was especially happy when he was outside, he would prance! I would shake my head smiling and say ‘He’s so darn cute.’ Bindi gave me so much joy, so much happiness, so much comfort! He had trouble with his ears and eventually became totally deaf at 13. He seemed to adjust pretty well to being deaf (better than I coped). We just found new ways to communicate and it didn’t effect much else. He was still happy. But, as his sight got worse from cataracts, he began having bouts of depression. Other things began to go wrong as well. He wasn’t happy as often; just once in awhile. He was unable to overcome the depression, so I thought it was time. He was, is, and always will be my wee lad, my little lamb, my baby, my Bindi…Forever in my heart.
Laura, I am so sorry to hear of Bindi’s passing. I know how much he meant to you (and I’m sure he did too!) and I’m sure it was very tough helping him cross the Rainbow bridge. My heart goes out to you with my sincerest and deepest sympathies.
