Her fur coat color was called “Sable”. Most English Springer Spaniels coat colors are Liver & White, Black & White, and Tri-color. Her coat was every hair color consisted of red, brown, black, white fur. Gracie was born in Carson City, MI and came from a litter of 12! Her given birth name was Foxy and she was indeed Foxy, Beautiful! I brought her home at 8 weeks old. She was very shy & timid, for a short time! In the beginning, I had to pick her up & carry her while starting out on our daily walks. She was very smart and learned the typical commands-sit, stay, come, wait, leave it, shake, turn around, crawl-all rather quickly, Gracie loved being outdoors, probably more so in colder weather. She loved the snow & me rolling snowballs to her so she could attack them. She loved to lay on the paddle boat and watch the fish swimming. She LOVED digging up small rocks and sticks from the bottom of the lake. She knew how to breathe under water…I could see the bubbles. Gracie’s growing up difficulties was the potty training. It took weeks for her stubborn highness to get it. High on her list however were her “babies” (toys)!  Lambie was her favorite. Her most endearing quality was her love for me and how she wanted to always be close. Gracie loved to sleep, at times, on my neck, if I was lying on my stomach. She would drape her body over my neck, with her head hanging down. (Yes! I let her sleep with me.) This started at 9 weeks old. As she grew older (and bigger) she would sleep at the top of my pillow, basically almost on top of my head. That love continued until her death. She lost most of her hearing & eyesight, but never lost her desire for sharing her love, her paw, her kisses or for hiding on her front porch watching the world go by. She was my “Sunshine on a cloudy day and every day”.
