We rescued Rocky in 2004 from the Macomb County Humane Society. Rocky was a bundle of energy and joy from the day we rescued him but we were both working and he had separation anxiety so a few months later we rescued his buddy, Rudy, from K9 Dog Rescue in Oxford. And, you may have guessed, we ended up with 2 dogs with separation anxiety. But they soon settled in and were inseparable for 17 years. Unfortunately, Rudy crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in June 2021 and was sadly missed by all, none more than Rocky. If you know dachshunds, you know they are loyal, fearless, territorial, and stubborn. Rocky and Rudy were all of those and quickly became John’s Shadow #1 and Shadow #2. They were content as long as they were near John and for Rocky, that need intensified after Rudy’s passing. He was with John as close to 24/7 as possible and it is going to be difficult to adjust without his constant, loving presence. Rocky and Rudy are now reunited as buddies forever and we have a dachshund sized hole in our hearts.
