He was born in Grand Rapids to a very nice Boston Terrier momma and her kind owner and one brother. I fell in love with him instantly when I saw his picture, but wanted to meet both pups before I made my choice. My high school son and I drove 2 hours to see them and I kept saying, “We are just going to see him but if it it doesn’t feel right, then we will come home empty handed and that will be just fine.” We had a dog we loved named Maggie and seeing his picture online was more of a spur of the moment idea to look at puppies for fun. There was no plan to even get a dog.
But it was love instantly! He was tiny compared to his brother and played floppily! It he also was a lover and preferred following humans around. The owner said he had to know where she was at all times. He was not an alpha dog and that’s what I wanted. His blue eyes. His sweet face. Love at first sight. We took him home.
He was “Velcro” to me. Our brains bonded. He was so loved. I looked at him every day and told him “he was the best dog I ever had.” He did anything I asked and just wanted to please me.
He love playing catch and tug. He loved going on walks and stopping at every tree to look up to check for squirrels. He watched the yard to protect us from squirrels and if one was out there, the chase was on. He could run like the dickens!
He loved opening presents and new toys. He loved to chew and eat carrots. He always went down the stairs with me on my left side. Every time. He always was next to me. He always sat on my left side in the chair. Couldn’t be the right side. He would, however, had always preferred to just be in my lap with his face at my face or kissing his cheek. It was so soft and warm. He would close his eyes and looked like he was in pure heaven.
Well…now he is.
When we drove home from taking his sweet body to Pet Passages, up ahead on the distance a rainbow appeared. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Both my daughter and I couldn’t believe it. The universe spoke to us to tell us he new how much he was loved.
