Logan’s beginnings are mostly a mystery. We believed he experienced some level of abuse or neglect early on based on how he reacted to situations. We do know that Logan’s journey started somewhere near Muskegon, MI. He was moved between rescues until he arrived in Oxford, MI when he was 5 years old. That’s where our story begins, that’s when he became ours.Logan was meant to be ours. The day we went to the rescue, we described our perfect dog and both staff members instantly agreed they thought Logan would be a good fit. He was!Logan kept his name as to not confuse him, but over the years he inherited many nicknames:BubbaLogan PoganBubba ButtBubsButtheadHandsome…all of which he loved as much as his first name.Logan spent 13 years with us. In his younger years, he was wild, his “Bull In A China Shop” impression could have won him an Oscar. He took protecting his family, especially his girls, very seriously. His ears were the first to catch most of our tears, he was a natural emotional support dog without any training needed, he was always down to being the little spoon to your big spoon, he was a mischief maker known for sneaking into the trash regularly, breaking or knocking over anything with his dangerous tail, and stealing food. His most infamous moments involed chocolate. Once he sniffed out not one but two, 1 lb Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups that were wrapped under the Christmas tree and eating them. Another time he stole an entire chocolate cake off of the kitchen table. He had an obsession with and was immune to chocolate. As the years passed he slowed down, he began enjoyed grumbling like an old man, napping and watching TV to pass the time. We knew our time with him was nearing an end. I asked Logan to tell me when it was time and unfortunately that time came this week.He passed knowing how loved he was. He was surrounded by his family who reassured him he was a good boy, that the pain would soon be over and we would see him again one day. “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” – Winnie the Pooh
